    • various places and dates have been advanced for George's birth, Stow, MLN (probably a misinterpretation of the 1851 census which shows him as 45 and born Shaw, ROX), Hobkirk, ROX (1861 census, aged 45) and Spaw, ROX (1851). Hobkirk is a neighbouring parish to Southdean where he was baptised, so possible, haven't yet found Spaw, so cannot comment, but as he was baptised in Southdean parish in Aug 1804, his age is a tad out in all of them.
