FTDNA block tree for I-BY21376 (Aug 2022)
Annotated with timescales from the FTDNA Discover tool, showing "birth" year ranges for each sub branch of the yDNA haplogroup tree of the I- haplogroup Fairbairn testers (and their stray Elliott outlier matches).
Also includes the earliest known ancestor for each subgroup, where this is NOT necessarily the common ancestor for all in the group, but is the family with the earliest documentation.
These names and dates being from my research and not necessarily the most distant paternal ancestor any of the testers may have entered on the FTDNA test.

YDNA tree updated for Fairbairn Haplogroup I1 (FTDNA Feb 2018)
BigY results have been received for more of our matching Haplogroup I1 Fairbairns and related names.
FTDNA have reviewed the breakdown under I-BY21365 (itself under I-Y7277), providing two new sub groups, one for the Elliotts, one for the Lineage 1e Fairbairns, making the tree look like the hierarchy attached.
The other Fairbairn representatives are still at I-BY21365 awaiting any further BigY matches.

Three lines of DNA tested Fairbairns are represented here:
YF13995 belongs to the line of Robert Fairbairn (marr. Crosbie) and sits up at the generic branch of the I1 tree assigned to all BigY tested Fairbairns to date - I-Y32666
YF14549 represents the Cockburnspath Fairbairn line, sitting at a new to yFull sub branch (I-A14330) of the above.
The remaining cluster under I-A14330 at I-A14340 are from John Fairnairn marr. Flint around Melrose, Roxburghshire

Nov 2018 Update for the Lineage 1 (Haplogroup I1) Fairbairns (and Elliots) on the yFull.com tree v. 6.07.17
Three lines of yDNA tested Fairbairns & two obviously related lines of Elliot are now represented here:
YF13995 belongs to the line of Robert Fairbairn (marr. Crosbie) and sits up at the generic branch of the I1 tree assigned to all BigY tested Fairbairns to date - I-Y32666 - awaiting another tester to join him and refine his branch
YF14549 represents the Cockburnspath Fairbairn line, sitting at a new to yFull sub branch (I-A14330) of the above.
The remaining cluster under I-A14330 at I-A14340 are from John Fairnairn marr. Flint around Melrose, Roxburghshire.
Two of the Elliots are included and sit on their sub branch of I-Y32666 at I-BY34592

yFull v7.09.00 Fairbairn/Elliot Lines
This newer (Oct 2019), annotated version of the yFull haplogroup tree adds another result to the overall I-Y32666 generic branch that (so far) includes all of our Fairbairn testers, and their matches who have uploaded to yFull.
There are now 4 testers awaiting refining matches to form their particular sub branches.
It is expected that two will form a mew sub branch as FTDNA shows the Fairbairn (m. Redpath) descendant as matching the Fairbairn (m. Crosbie) descendant as sharing a separate lower SNP (I-FT144967)

yFull v7.10.00 Fairbairn/Elliot Lines
Dec 2019 update.
The yet to be annotated version of the yFull haplogroup tree adds another result to the overall I-Y32666 generic branch that (so far) includes all of our Fairbairn testers, and their matches who have uploaded to yFull.
The 4 ungrouped testers awaiting refining matches to form their particular sub branches were joined by a 5th, and 3 of the 5 have now formed their new subbranch of the newly names SNP ((I-FT144967 to FTDNA, BY156552 to yFull) with the time estimates for formation being more or less the same as all the other main subbranches.
